Work Based Learning:- A day in Historic Dockyard
The weather was pleasant and inviting. Deniz, our client, gave my colleagues and I a time slot to visit the site, The Historic Dockyard- Store house 9. We chose to visit the site in order to obtain accurate site measurements as the project's next step. We enthusiastically prepared a series of challenging inquiries centering around the fascinating warehouse in preparation for our impending appointment with Deniz. We were adamant that we would explore deeply into its background, significance within the context of Portsmouth, and its essential role in forming the modern United Kingdom.
Finally, the day came, and we entered the old dockyard with great enthusiasm, ready to take it all in. We were warmly welcomed by Deniz, our knowledgable guide and curator. She took us on a fascinating tour through time, which demonstrated her enthusiasm for history. The generous assistance she provided left us speechless. she stayed there on the location with us for a long period. While Deniz was describing the sight to us, we were able to see the level of interest she had in it. Her eyes caught my reflection, no doubt.
Investigating every aspect of it,the materials utilised on the site are equally as old, robust and pure as the site itself because it is both a boat house and a historic building. Everything drew us in, including the height of the boat house, the ceiling, the flooring, the natural lighting, the sturdy wooden beams, the stone walls and the shapes of the windows. Each element revealed itself as a testament to the craftmanship and inventiveness of the time. And then we decided that the design we would create would never alter the site's fundamental character.
Our goal was to capture its essence by documenting the missing dimensions, ensuring that no detail went unnoticed. With measuring tapes and sketchbooks in hand,we carefully investigated every nook and crevice of the acient structure. I attempted some on-location sketching, which is one of my major interests and a passion of mine. The elegant arches, an adornment on the storehouse, came to life with pencil strokes.
The weight of responsibility mingled with excitement, as we recognizd the rare opportunity we had been given. Leaving the storehouse behind, we began our journey back. Because of the simultaneous double bliss, our hearts were overflowing with excitement. We had the most amazing opportunity to explore the soul of the Historic dockyard store house and also spend time with the beautiful, passionate Architect, Deniz. As we continued our journey, we were grateful for thr oppurtunity to embark on such a profound exploration. The storehouse has changed from being a simple building to serving as a portal to a vibrant past.
